Frequently Asked Questions

 

1    How much does it cost to convert my car? 

$8,000+, dependant on vehicle and specifications required.  Basic small car conversion using lead acid batteries with good performance - approx $15,000.

2    How far will it go?

Average of  up to 50 km's for a lead acid battery powered vehicle.  Up to 200 km's with Li-Ion.  Additional batteries will give further km's.

3    Can I use Lithium Ion batteries?

Yes.  There are different types with different battery management systems.  Estimated life spans of up to 10 years.  However higher costs are involved.

4    Where can I buy an electric car?

We will be posting available electric cars for sale and are currently starting batch conversions of small vehicle for sale and also in kit form.

5    How long will it take to convert my car?

Conversions on unique cars could be completed within 2-4 weeks, dependant on availability of products. In the future standardized conversions could be converted within a week, depending on suppliers.

6    Can I convert my/any car?

Any car can be converted.  Some cars have limiting and cost factors.  Large cars will increase charging times and incur greater costs with less performance.

7    Can I use an automatic car?

Yes, depending on type of transmission.  It could be less efficient and incur greater costs.

8    How fast can an electric car go?

Depending on type of conversion, the electric motor can outperform the original petrol engine.

9    How long will the batteries last?

Quality lead acid batteries would least 5+ years - if maintained properly.  Li-Ion batteries up to 10 years (according to manufacturers estimate).

10    Can I keep my power steering and air conditioning?

Yes.  Power steering is relatively simple.  Air conditioning can be retained in different ways.
